Drive-in movies are back! And they’re at Walmart!
Yes, really! Walmart announced this week that 160 of their 4000+ stores will participate partnership with Tribeca Enterprises, to bring in touring drive-in movie theaters that will transform Walmart parking lots into outdoor cinemas. From August through October of this year, Walmart is transforming these selected store parking lots into contact-free drive-in movie theaters where customers can safely gather to watch family-friendly movies. And of course you’ll be able to pre-order the “movie necessities” such as soft drinks, candy and the like, and it will be ready for curbside pick-up when you arrive at the “parking lot / theater.”
This should all have very little impact on Overnight RV Parking at Walmart. Fewer than 4% of their stores parking lots will be turned into Drive-In Theaters, and since the number of movie screenings has been announced as “320+,” that means an average of about 2 nights per store, only at these 160 stores, over a span of 3 months. And who knows, as long as you park your RV in the back, you may be able to enjoy a movie on the big screen — the REALLY big screen! — before you settle in for a good night’s sleep.
